Welcome to Quartz Composer community portal
This site is about Quartz Composer, the development toolset provided by Apple to handle the image technology, Quartz, under the Mac OS X operating system.
More than 15 years ago, the founder of Apple Computer, Steve Jobs, left Apple and started NeXt Computer. NeXt developped its own operating system and development technology named NeXTSTEP. A little known story about NeXTSTEP is the imaging-rendering technology used to display content on the screen or print it on the paper. That technology, the display postscript, was revolutionary at that time. Apple made a revolution with the desktop publishing with a technology developped by Adobe, named PostScript, NeXT wanted to do a revolution of the same amplitude by porting the PostScript to the displays.
Years later, Apple purshased NeXT Computer (some could argue it is the contrary) and NeXT's crown jewels were integrated in the new operating system, the Mac OS X. This is a Wiki site
This site is a work in progress. It is not written by some professionnal hired by Apple to promote Quartz but by enthusiasts who want help each other to understand, master and promote that fantastic technology. As any other Wiki media, we need help from a broad range of people to create the most appropriate documentation for Quartz developpers and users.
The first thing you should do, is to register yourself and have a user name and a password. From that point, you will be able to contribute to this site. Your first contribution should be your user page where you can write about yourself, explain why you are interested by the Quartz technology.
Since this site is powered by MediaWiki, you should have a look at the Community Portal of the mother of all MediaWiki site, the Wikipedia encyclopedia. At that place, you'll find a lot of information on how to use a MediaWiki site, adding content, modifying articles etc. etc.
