Quartz Composer is available as part of Mac OS X v10.4 Developer Tools installation. This section will help you locate the Developer Tools installer and, once the installation is complete, it will guide you to the location where Quartz Composer can be found. If you system already has the Xcode Developer Tools installed, you can skip to the section entitled "Once Installation is Complete"

What You Need

The Xcode Developer Tools installer (which contains Quartz Composer) is located on your Mac OS X Install DVD:

Insert your Mac OS X v10.4 or 10.5 Installation DVD Double-click the "Xcode Tools" folder Locate and double-click the "XcodeTools" installer Begin the installation process Upon completion, you may safely quit the installer and eject your Mac OS X Installation DVD Note that on some systems, the Xcode Developer Tools may be found in your Applications folder on your root volume (the disc you started Mac OS X from). If that is the case, you may opt to launch the "XcodeTools" installer from that location to save some time.

Once Installation is Complete

In a default installation of the Xcode Developer Tools, Quartz Composer is located at the following location:

/Developer/Applications/Graphics Tools/Quartz Composer
